A salt pool is still sanitised by chlorine. The difference is that the chlorine is generated on site from dissolved salt rather than delivered in a bucket, so you handle far fewer chemicals.

What salt actually costs

Expect a cell to last three to seven years depending on how well you manage calcium. Cyprus tap water is hard, so scaling is the main enemy of cell life. Budget for the replacement up front and salt still comes out cheaper across ten years for most pools over 40 cubic metres.

When we recommend tablets instead

Holiday lets with long empty stretches, pools under 30 cubic metres, and anywhere with stainless steel fittings close to the waterline. In those cases a well-dosed tablet feeder is simpler and kinder to the hardware.
